According to a District 219 official, as of Monday afternoon the team was reinstated as it was determined that no criminal activity took place.

“This last week has been a difficult one for our school community,” Niles North Principal James Edwards said in a NTHS Dist. 219 news release Monday.

“As soon as our school became aware of the allegations, we were determined to act in the most proactive and thorough manner possible, and we are glad that we are able to reinstate the program today.”

Details of the investigation were not released, but according to the press release, the district will take appropriate action to address the conduct that did take place.

The reinstatement comes as a relief for the players, who will still have four games remaining in the regular season.

After the forfeit to Maine South, Niles North’s record now stands at 2-3. The Vikings will continue their season with an away game at New Trier on Friday, October 6.
