CSL Power Rankings: 5/14

1. New Trier (27-6): Won the CSL South with three games to spare. After a shaky home tourney, came back to capture the Vernon Hills tournament. Loyola commit middle
hitter Joe D’Attomo has returned. Game on May 22 vs the winner of Niles North and Maine East.

2. Deerfield (26-5): Tied for first in the CSL North after beating Glenbrook North in 3 sets. Won theEvanston/Loyola Invite without their starting Libero and two other important players. Currently on a 18 match winning streak Game on May 22 vs winner of Evanston and Notre Dame.

3. Glenbrook North (20-9): Preparing for the state run after tough loss to Deerfield. Have
players such as outside hitter Jack Ferber, Libero Matthew Zhang, and outside hitter Ethan Brodell. Regional Game on May 22 vs winner of St. Viator and Taft.

4. Maine West (19-14): Upstart Warriors continuing to fly underneath the radar. Currently in third in the CSL North and gave GBN a scare. Regional Game on May 21 vs CICS/Northtown.

5. Niles West (19-14): Their positive record has them at this rating. Best player #11 outside hitter is very inconsistent. Very scrappy defense and serve receive. Regional Game on May 21vs Northside.

6. Glenbrook South (14-13): Unexpectedly lost to Highland Park and Vernon Hills this weekend. Still fighting for second in a even CSL South. Regional Game on May 21 vs
Rickover Naval Academy.

7. Vernon Hills (15-18): Brought a fight to New Trier this weekend at their own tournament and beat Glenbrook South. Not the most talented team in school history but Coach Curry gets the best out of them. Regional Game on May 22 vs winner of Lake Zurich and Rockford Guilford.

8. Maine East (12-16): Sub-.500 record, but not it’s not all bad worst though. Have a tough task ahead of them in regionals if they advance to play New Trier. Lost their best player, very young and very small team. Regional Game on May 21 vs Niles North.

9. Maine South (14-19): Another inconsistent team with a loss to Niles West. Best player John Rzepniewski swings hard, but scrappy team overall. Also junior Libero Aidan Herguth steps up at times to make plays on defense. Regional Game on May 21 vs Senn.

10. Highland Park (12-17): Runner ups at the Vernon Hills Invite but struggling in conference. Led by Senior middle hitter Zak Levy. Regional Game on May 21 at home vs Prospect

11. Evanston (12-21): Beat North Chicago, Lane Tech, and Grayslake North, but lost to
Romeoville and Zion Benton at the Evanston/Loyola Invite. Sure can hit, but struggle to pass. Game on May 21 at home vs Notre Dame.

12. Niles North (7-22): Still winless in the CSL, struggling to keep afloat. Game on May 21 at home vs Maine East.
