Illinois Preps Insider’s girls basketball top-20: Week 3

Um, okay then.

That was a wild week. A couple of shootouts, a few upsets sprinkled in with the start of the conference season.

Simeon, what in the world are we going to do with you…I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt this time around but you are on very thin ice.

I don’t really have much else to say besides the fact that this has by far been the most difficult week since I started.

I’ll just let the rankings do the talking.

1. Whitney Young (3-1) 1

Only loss to one of the best teams in the country

2. Maine West (9-0) 6

Picked off right where they left off last year

3. Fremd (9-0) 3

Not spectacular wins, but getting the job done and living up to expectations

4. Mother McAuley (8-0) 10

Not only did they beat Benet, they absolutely dismantled them.

5. Benet (8-2) 2

Rough two loss week for the Redwings. Still a tremendous team though.

6. Marist (7-1) 5

Abby Callahan is legit

7. Nazareth (7-0) 8

Nice comeback over Ignatius without Cullotta, continue to move on up.

8. Evanston (7-1) 9

Wacky win over Simeon

9. Loyola (7-1) 4

Dropped one to Marist for their first lost of the year

10. Montini (5-1) 11

Relatively quiet week in comparison to the rest of the top-20

11. Kenwood (5-1) 7

Tough to play on the road in CPS

12. Bolingbrook (3-2) 13

Continue with their out of state schedule

13. St. Ignatius (5-2) 12

Had Naz for the taking. They’ll give teams fits.

14 Lincoln-Way West (6-1) 15

Big test against Thornwood upcoming

15. Rolling Meadows (8-1) 16

Just keep chugging along

16. Thornwood (6-0) NR

My apologies for overlooking the Thunderbirds

17. Simeon (4-4)

Different team every single game

18. New Trier (6-3) 20

On the other hand, always know what you’re going to get from New Trier

19. Downers Grove North (5-2) NR

Frustrating team to play against, but they run their system well

20. Libertyville (5-2) NR

Convincing head to head win over Lake Forest pushes them over the top
