Illinois Preps Insider’s girls baseketball top-20: 2019-20 Week 8

Before we begin, just a quick note on teams records and why there are an abundance of more losses.

Evanston had to forfeit their game against Simeon, giving them two losses on the season. While I personally don’t think they win that game without Kaylen Hall, we can’t play the “what if” game here. They’ve clearly been the best team this season so they stay at number one.

Whitney Young have four additional losses from their missed tournament in Las Vegas. While I’m still waiting on the official word from the IHSA, they are listed as forfeits on the tournament website.

The top-five had some scares this week. Benet had to come back big against Marian Catholic, and Lake Forest needed OT to beat Buffalo Grove. Nevertheless, they still won those games.

An old friend to the rankings comes back in Downers Grove North. Consider this a trial period, they have a tricky game against Lyons this week who they lost to earlier this season.
