At New Trier

Pool 1

New Trier def. Hersey, 18-25, 25-9, 15-13

As good as Hersey looked in the opening set, New Trier took it to another level in set two.

Pretty crazy ending, Hersey was down 13-10, tie it up, New Trier scores a point to go up 14-13, someone on Hersey is issued a yellow card and New Trier take it on the next point. Let’s keep that intensity up for the rest of the tournament, yea?

Lake Forest def. Lake Zurich, 25-10, 24-26, 15-10

Have to imagine Lake Forest played their subs in the second set, but that’s what these tournaments are good for seeing what you have depth wise as a team.

Lake Forest def. New Trier: 25-23, 25-21

Shocker of the tournament so far. New Trier looked so good against Hersey in the final two sets, and then lay an egg against Lake Forest.

The real kicker? Kevin Lamp didn’t even play that well. Just a lot of sleepwalking for the Trevians and the Lake Forest block was excellent.

Hersey def. Lake Zurich 25-18, 25-13

Hersey def. Lake Forest 27-25, 25-23

That was a really fun match. Almost reached the cap in set one and Kevin Lamp almost led an improbable comeback in the second as he was serving with Lake Forest down 24-19.

New Trier def. Lake Zurich 23-25, 25-15, 16-14

New Trier was one point away from being in the fourth place pool. Lake Zurich had match point, but couldn’t quite finish it out and New Trier took advantage.

Pool 2

Glenbard West def. Stevenson, 25-10, 25-14

Utter domination from the Hilltoppers. Heard that Stevenson was missing a few middles which doesn’t help but thats still a pretty incredible scoreline.

Buffalo Grove def. Niles West, 18-25, 25-23, 15-10

Glenbard West def. Buffalo Grove 25-20, 25-16

Stevenson def. Niles West 25-12, 25-21

Glenbard West def. Niles West 25-14, 25-19

Hilltoppers roll. They only had one lull in play in the first set against Buffalo Grove but man did they look good today.

Stevenson def. Buffalo Grove 25-13. 21-25. 15-13

At Glenbrook North

Pool 3

Libertyville def. Glenbrook North 25-18, 27-25

That’s a good solid win for Libertyville.Playing GBN is a tough task on any given night, but it’s even more difficult if you don’t see them that often.

Warren def. Elk Grove, 25-17, 16-25, 15-10

Warren def. Glenbrook North 25-22, 21-25, 15-13

Not a great day for GBN thus far.

Libertyville def. Elk Grove 25-12, 25-11

Glenbrook North def. Elk Grove 21-25, 25-20, 15-7

Looks like GBN was in serious trouble to go 0-3 on the day before pulling it out. Would have liked to see what went on over there.

Libertyville def. Warren 25-19, 25-20

Libertyville looked to have taken care of business as well. When healthy they are ridiculously tough to beat.

Pool 4

Barrington def. Vernon Hills, 25-14, 25-15

OPRF def. Maine South, 23-25, 25-23, 15-11

Maine South def. Vernon Hills 25-15, 25-17

Barrington def. OPRF 24-26, 25-23 15-9

Barrington def. Maine South 25-18, 25-13
