Illinois Preps Insider’s girls basketball top-20: 2019-20 Week 9
These are the kind of weeks where I wish we included some of the downstate squads just to round out the top-20.
The bottom five is a mess this week. There are teams who probably should have dropped out, but the teams on the brink could not take advantage this week.
Maine West joins the rest of the top-4 with an obligatory loss to an out of state team, they will meet Simeon this week.
Marist keeps on chugging along under the radar, Libertyville keeps on rolling, and Lake Forest had a tough, tough, two loss week.
Stevenson rejoins the fray, Geneva and Fenwick barely survive because not enough teams on the outside took a big step forward. I probably stop being so forgiving after this week.
1. Evanston (16-2) 1
Should be well rested for the final stretch
2. Benet (18-2) 2
Surviving even more scare
3. Montini (20-3) 3
Continues impressive string of conference wins
4. Maine West (18-2) 4
Joins the out of state loss crew
5. Simeon (20-2) 6
In control of the city
6. Marist (19-3) 7
Quietly beating everyone
7. Lincoln-Way West (19-2) 8
Interested to see how they deal with the size of Fenwick

On an absolute tear
9. Kenwood (19-5) 9
Not quite enough to topple Simeon

Dominated Lake Forest
13. Lake Forest (17-5) 5
