Illinois Preps Insider’s girls basketball top-20: 2019-20 Final regular season rankings

Well, it’s hard to believe but the regular season is over and playoffs are officially upon us. That was blistering quick.

Geneva is the only team that moves into the top-20 this week. Everything else was pretty minor changes with teams only moving a couple of spots at most.

As most of you know, I’m a much bigger fan of the final regular season rankings than playoff rankings. One game playoffs don’t always tell the whole story and there are obviously more competitive sectionals than others. This weeks rankings tells more of a story than the end of the season.

Benet started and finished the regular season as the top team, while Montini, Simeon, and Maine West remained in the top-5 all year long.

We only had two teams claim the top spot this season, a new low since we started. Obviously that can all change during playoffs.

No unbeatens in the area this year, special shoutout to Morton all the way downstate though.  If they were in area, they would have been preseason number one and stuck there for the entire year.

Not much more to say. There are playoff basketball games literally every single day this week. Go out and watch some basketball.
