Illinois Preps Insider’s girls basketball top-20: March 7

Things that were written before that Maine South vs. Simeon game, “Okay, I feel like I have a bit more of a handle on things this week.”

Maine South is one heck of a basketball team, they’ve been in or around the top-10 all year and should probably be in the AP top-10 for 4A. I actually had them a little lower but the Simeon game bumped them up

Anyways, back to business. Libertyville and Lyons were the two biggest winners. Both have been rolling after a tough opening week of the season and have made significant strides.

Naperville North continues to be a quiet climber, taking care of the games they should win, en route to an undefeated conference season.

The Catholic League keeps beating up on each other, and Fenwick’s yo-yo ways knock them out for the time being. Just hard to justify a .500 team this late in the season being in the top-20.

Burlington Central also drops out, just not a great time to lose to a sub-.500 team.

Here’s the top-20.

1. Simeon (7-0) 1

2. Hersey (13-0) 2

3. Kenwood (6-0) 3
