With their 57-46 win over Loyola, Maine West won their second consecutive sectional championship, something that hasn’t been done at the school since the 1992 and 1993 seasons.

With their 57-46 win over Loyola, Maine West won their second consecutive sectional championship, something that hasn’t been done at the school since the 1992 and 1993 seasons.
In a season full of inconsistencies a common theme may have finally emerged, and that is no team is safe in the class 4A state playoffs. Tuesday night’s action was no exception, as top seeded Montini and second seed Benet had to overcome late deficits in order to advance to the sectional finals.
Time and time again, ranked teams have had head scratching losses, and top seeds have bowed without even winning a regional, but Maine West (29-1) and Loyola (25-5) have overcome those troubling odds to set up a much anticipated matchup between two top-10 teams.

Less than two months ago, New Trier were coming off their worst stretch of the season, losing four of six games which included a double digit loss to Trinity. Girls rankings for the week of 2/4
With seeds being released tomorrow, we take a crack at picking the top-4 seeds for the class 4A sectionals.
Usually known for their high pressure defense to try and speed teams up, the No. 4 Roadrunners, slowed things down a bit in the second half by switching to a zone look. The change in scheme worked, as Nazareth only gave up 16 second half points to defeat Whitney 64-49, and improving their record to 22-2 overall record.
