Glenbrook North discovery tournament recap

The girls volleyball regular season may be coming to a close, but there are still a lot of matches and tournaments to be played.
Co-hosts New Trier took home the top prize at the sixteen team, GBN discovery tournament, going 5-0 over the weekend.
The Trevians defeated Prospect (25-18, 25-15), Stevenson (25-20, 25-22), and Maine West (19-25, 25-21, 15-12) in pool play before moving on to the first place bracket.
New Trier would then go on to defeat York in three sets in the semifinals (25-22, 20-25, 25-16) before finally beating Nazareth Academy in a thrilling three set final (25-27, 25-22, 25-21).
Loyola took fifth place overall, and second in the silver pool. After losing to West Aurora on the opening day of the tournament, the Ramblers did not drop a single set for the rest of the tournament. They defeated Maine South (25-20, 25-22) and Wauconda (25-22, 25-22) on Saturday to win the silver.
Grayslake Central won the bronze pool after defeating Evanston (25-23, 27-25) and Buffalo Grove (25-19, 26-24) on Saturday.
Evanston finished the tournament at a disappointing 1-4. The Wildkits lost to Maine West (2-3 over the weekend) in the bronze pool consolation game, 25-18, 25-19.
Reilly Olson led the Warriors in kills over the weekend with 43, Ally Block dished out 59 assists, and Sophie Saldana finished with 51 digs.
GBN won the copper pool with three set wins over Niles North, and Prospect (21-25, 25-23, 29-27).
