Illinois Preps Insider’s girls basketball top-20: 2019-20 Week 11

What do we do with Lincoln-Way West and Evanston?

On one hand I really don’t want to drop Evanston down a ton because it’s only one non-conference away loss, and I like to look at the resume for an entire season.

On the other hand, we also have to reward Lincoln-Way West for the win, and Marist, Maine West, and Simeon have done nothing to warrant dropping a spot, it’s a bit of a pickle.

We need to give Benet some credit. They have been struggling, but at the end of each and every game, they have somehow found a way to win.

There are two 3A teams in the top-3, if you would have told me that last year, I would have laughed and said you were crazy.

City playoffs are in full swing which means the good city teams had very little chance of losing this past week. They’ll all meet up when the semi-finals and finals come around.

The middle order was pretty stagnant. Just want to make one special note about Fremd, they are playing so much better since Ruthie Montella came back from injury. They’re certainly a factor in sectionals.

Loyola and Naperville North enter the fold as they’ve been trending up since the new year, but those last spots have been a doozy as of late.
